What European comics/comic writers would you recommend?

It seems that most of what I read is American and Japanese, and I'm looking to diversify my material a bit. I do like some European writers like Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Garth Ennis, Grant Morrison, etc, but the books that they write tend to be published over here in the States. Is there anything that I'm missing out on?
