Number of potholes are increasing, does this mean there is going to be an election (important travel info).?

I have noticed over the past twenty years or so that whenever an election is near the number of potholes in the roads starts to increase, have you noticed this recently? If you haven't, then first thing tomorrow morning, go outside and look at the road near your house, does it have any potholes or does it show any sign that a pothole may appear in the next seven days? So I just wonder is this a sign....
