Cost of maintaining used volkswagen rabbit?

Against my better judgement and on my daughters insistance she bought a used 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit . It's in good shape with 45,000K on the clock. I admire the German technology and worksmanship. In Europe they are great and VW can compete with anyone, however i am not sure whether same can be said about VW performance in USA. Love to hear firsthand comments, thanks
